Breguet 5101/54 Type 20 ‘French Air Force’ Chronograph Stainless Steel circa 1954

This Breguet Type XX reference 5101/54 is a military issued chronograph produced for the French Air Force in the 1950’s. The stainless steel case measures 38 mm and reflects the functional design language required for aviation use.

The original black dial features the desirable small Breguet logo, a detail appreciated by collectors for its clean and purposeful appearance. Tritium markers and hands provide strong legibility, in line with the tool watch nature of the Type XX. The watch is furthermore fitted with the original, large, union-style crown.

Power comes from the manual wind Valjoux 222 chronograph movement, equipped with a flyback function. This complication allowed pilots to instantly reset and restart the chronograph with a single push, an essential feature for navigation and timing during flight.
