PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A modern evolution of one of Cartier’s most iconic designs, the Santos Galbée brings together classic styling and refined proportions. Originally conceived in 1904 for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, the Santos became one of the first wristwatches ever created. This Ref. 1566, dating to circa 1997, showcases the refined Galbée design—featuring a more curved, ergonomic profile while retaining the signature two-tone elegance.
The 29 x 41 mm case, crafted in stainless steel and 18k yellow gold, retains its original bevels and crisp edges, a rarity that reflects its careful preservation. The white dial with Roman numerals is paired with blued steel hands, adding a subtle touch of vintage charm. Powered by a quartz movement, this Santos offers hassle-free reliability in a timeless form.
The original double-fold clasp remains intact, and the bracelet fits wrists up to 18.5 cm, with sizing possible via screw-link adjustment.
