PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Hand built, pre-reference Cartier Tank Louis ‘Extra Plate’ with Jaeger-LeCoultre movement and desirable ‘Flat A’, Paris-singed dial.

To understand this watch, a bit of context below
It’s 1972 when Cartier Paris was sold to a group of investors, who later also acquired Cartier London and New York. A year later in 1973, Cartier launched 12 models under the new ‘Louis Cartier’ collection. These watches were designed for high-volume production. They implemented the use of ETA movements and reference numbers.

This example features a JLC cal. P838, with a movement serial number which dates back to c. 1971. Inside of the case back, the number dates back to c. 1974. This tells us, that this is one of the last sold, hand built, pre-reference Cartier’s which was made in France. This collectible Tank Louis ‘Extra Plate’ has all matching numbers, and has been preserved in excellent and original condition.
