Doxa 565 ‘Calatrava’ Large Size Black Radium Dial circa 1940’s

Stunning and very rare Doxa 565 in the largest (35 mm) size, with original black gilt radium dial, from the 1940’s.The watch has been preserved in good condition. The original movement dust cover is still present, as well as the beautifully design ‘Priest Hat’ crown.

As many of you already know, this watch case was made by François Borgel. A famous case maker, who also made cases for Patek Philippe. This exact case also exists in the Patek Philippe catalogue under the reference 565. These models, especially in steel, can fetch 6 figure auction results due to their rarity and popularity among collectors. Doxa has made this watch for a very brief period, probably because Patek Philippe didn’t want other brands to have the same case. Finding one in original condition with a black dial sure is challenging, and therefore I’m delighted to share this find with you all.
