PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This Jaeger-LeCoultre ‘Tuile’ is a museum-grade example of early 1930’s horological design, combining JLC’s mechanical excellence, with bold Art Deco design. Produced in approximately 1934, it represents one of the most distinctive Duoplan-era creations, defined by its architectural case and rare, double-signed, salmon dial configuration.

The stainless steel case features an exceptional vertically oriented curved mineral glass, a daring design choice that gives the watch its sculptural presence and unmistakable profile. Such complex case construction was far ahead of its time and remains highly collectible today. This exceptional case measures 20 x 36 mm. The proportions are elegant and striking, perfectly suited to the avant-garde spirit of the period.

The exquisite salmon dial is signed both ‘Jaeger-LeCoultre’ and ‘Rossello’. This is the name of a jeweller based in Montevideo, Uruguay. The double-signed dials from this era adds an additional collectors touch, to the already extremely uncommon overall configuration. The painted black line markers, combined with the oversized 12 and 6, create a powerful contrast and emphasizes its strong Art Deco character.

Inside runs the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duoplan calibre 403. This calibre is an exceptional creation of Jaeger-LeCoultre, even for todays standards! The name ‘Duoplan’ refers to the technical design of the movement. The calibre is divided by two (duo) ‘storeys’ to achieve the most compact lay-out possible. It’s not only fantastic to look at, but also an amazing piece of horological history. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s title, ‘The Watchmakers Watchmaker’, well earned…
