Jaeger-LeCoultre ‘Etrier’ Hermès-style 18k Pink Gold circa 1947
€ 6.450
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Mesmerising and early Jaeger-LeCoultre ‘Etrier’ or ‘Lucchetto’ driver’s watch from circa 1947, executed in 18k pink gold. The dial is beautifully decorated with applied rose gold hour markers and painted ‘serrif’-style numerals.
The pink gold, H-style case reminds me of the Etrier watches which are often co-signed Hèrmes. It’s an absolute style icon within the line-up of the maison. ‘Etrier’ means ‘stylish bar’, which refers to equestrian utilities. It has a strong resemblance to Hermes, and reminds me of the Gucci horsebit style.
While most Etrier models originate from the 1960’s, which makes finding one from circa 1947 is even more exciting. Inside runs the exquisite JLC-caliber 407/2. The case is stamped: ‘LC’, which explains LeCoultre made this case in Switzerland. Also a noteworthy detail, the crown is on the top of the watch at 12. Later Etrier’s, seem to all have them at 6.
