Mido Multifort Extra tropical dial

 750

Mido was founded in 1918 by Georges Schaeren in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. The company’s name comes from the Spanish word for ‘I measure’, most presumably referring to the accuracy these Mido watches bring. The brand gained a reputation for producing quality watches. In 1934 they released one of the world’s first water-resistant watch cases. In 1944, Mido released the Multifort line of watches, which featured an innovative shock-resistant system. The Multifort became one of Mido’s most popular models and is still in production today.

This Mido Multifort is an elegant watch from the 1950’s and bears the reference 8658. It features a 30 mm case made of steel and rose gold, and is powered by the 15 jeweled, manual wind Mido movement. The tropical sector dial and rose gold bezel provide the watch with a sophisticated touch, while the screw-down François Borgel case adds the feeling of durability. This watch is perfect for those who want a stylish and rugged timepiece that will last for years to come.

As mentioned before, the case of this Mido Multifort was designed by famous casemaker François Borgel. They are known for designing watch cases and crowns for among others, waterproof Patek Phillipe Calatrava’s, a selection of Movado and Doxa wristwatches. The beautifully aged dial has many mesmerizing details, which are a beautiful contrast with the quality finishing of the two-tone watch case.

The originality this watch breaths, in combination with the beautifully finished manual wind movement, is something this specific example make worth adding to your collection.
