Rolex Oyster Perpetual ‘Roulette Date’ 6518 from 1954

Rolex. An attractively aged stainless steel Oyster Perpetual Date wristwatch reference 6518, with ‘Roulette Date’ and original Rolex riveted bracelet, from 1954

Rolex Oyster watch case with unusual ‘straight faceted’ lugs (not tapered, as most of the Rolex Oyster watch cases feature). Screwed case back and crown. The serial number of the watch dates this example back to 1954.

Original and attractively patinated dial with applied Rolex crown and hour-markers. The date window has been finished with a steel window, which emphasizes the eye for finishing of this early Rolex watch.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual cal. 1030 (automatic)

Original Rolex riveted bracelet with 57 end links (bracelet signed with 4/56)

A magnificent example of an early Rolex watch which has been preserved in a magnificent original condition. To better understand the value, condition and rarity of this 1950’s Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date, look up the reference on the internet, and see how many you could find (The answer: Only a hand full…) Then, take a look at the Rolex Submariner ‘James Bond’ reference 6536, which is from the same era as this Rolex 6518. A well preserved, original example will begin at € 30.000 euro. So if you are looking for an interesting, uncommon, original vintage Rolex watch which very few people have on their wrist, this is your chance!
