PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Prince by Rolex, was together with the Bubble-Back models, the pinnacle of 1980’s Rolex collecting. When found in good condition, they seem to attract more attention than ever. This Rolex Prince reference 1862 was produced in circa 1926, and is an early and highly collectible example of the celebrated ‘Doctor’s Watch’. Its elongated case measures 20 x 39 mm, and is crafted in 9k yellow gold and distinguished by vertical white gold bezel edges, creating a subtle and refined two tone effect. The case remains in very good condition, with clear edges and preserved bevels.

The original silver dial is one of the highlights of the watch, featuring a separate lower register for the running seconds, a layout that made these watches popular among high-ranking doctors for measuring pulse rates. The original printing remains crisp, while the gold mirrored Art-Deco decoration adds depth and elegance to the dial.

Power comes from the Rolex/Aegler cal. 877S movement, one of the movements associated with early Prince models. With its distinctive proportions, original dial, and two tone case construction, this is a superbly preserved example of one of Rolex’s most iconic pre-Oyster designs.
