PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This Vacheron Constantin reference 4073 is a refined Calatrava in 18k yellow gold, produced in 1953. The case was made by Antoine Gerlach, the same case maker responsible for the Patek Philippe 96 and 570. It remains in pristine condition, with sharp lines and excellent proportions at 34.5 mm. The white raised enamel dial is fitted with applied 18k yellow gold markers, creating a clean and balanced layout typical of high end dress watches from this period.
What makes this watch truly unique is the movement. Instead of the commonly used calibre 453, this example is fitted with the Vacheron Constantin calibre 13”’ N73. This movement dates back to circa 1910, making it significantly older than the watch itself. Its presence in this reference is highly unusual and has been officially confirmed by the Extract from the Archives. The case has also been specifically adapted to accommodate this movement, a detail that further highlights its uniqueness.
This combination of a mid century case with an earlier high grade movement makes this a rare and historically interesting piece.
