Vacheron Constantin 4073 ‘Pink on Pink’ 18k Rose gold Salmon Dial circa 1944

This Vacheron Constantin reference 4073 is an exceptional Calatrava in 18k rose gold. The case was made by Antoine Gerlach, the same case maker responsible for the precious metal cases of amongst others, the Patek Philippe 96 and Patek Philippe 570. The design and proportions of this reference 4073 are very similar to the Patek Philippe 570, sharing elegant lines, sizing, and strong wrist presence.

The salmon coloured raised enamel dial with sub seconds creates a highly attractive pink on pink configuration. Applied Arabic rose gold numerals complement the tone of the case, giving the watch a warm and balanced appearance. This pink on pink execution is among the most desirable variants of Calatrava watches from this era.
